Unlike many financial institutions, the interest paid on a loan is calculated on the declining balance of the amount you borrow. Interest is calculated on the exact number of days between payments. As the principal of the loan decreases, the amount of interest you pay also decreases. This feature can literally save hundreds of dollars. Additional payments may be made at any time without a prepayment penalty.
